Biography

Dr Nurul A.C. Lah was born in Kelantan, Malaysia. She studied Engineering at the University of Malaya, Malaysia where she successfully completed her degree in B.Eng (Hons) in Materials. As a scholar under the tutorship scheme programme, she continued for another degree in postgraduate studies at the University of Malaya, pursuing Degree of Master of Engineering Science in Materials which was achieved in 2010. She received a scholarship from Saudi Arabia's government and pursued her DPhil study in Advanced Materials (Nanotechnology) in 2011 at the Unversity of Oxford, United Kingdom. Her dissertation was successfully defended in February 2016, entitled ‘’The Size-Induced Metal-Insulator Transition in Silver Particles’’. Mrs. Che Lah was a Lecturer in Materials Engineering, teaching materials science, materials engineering and mechanical engineering at the undergraduate level at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Pahang, Malaysia. Mrs. Che Lah has also been part of the UMP Automotive Engineering Research Group (AERG) team for one and half years since February 2016, particularly in metal nanoparticle synthesis, advanced fundamental understanding of nanoworld and associate development of advanced technologies as well as analytical techniques. Currently, Mrs. Che Lah is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronics Engineering Technology at UMP teaching materials engineering courses and a Mechatronics/System Design team member under Innovative, Manufacturing, Mechatronics and Sport (iMAMS) laboratory. She is a member of several professional bodies such as the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and the Institute of Materials Malaysia (IMM). On April 2023, Mrs Che Lah has been appointed as Principal Fellow under the Center for Advanced Intelligent Materials, Universiti Malaysia Pahang.

Her current research covers a broad range of multi-disciplinary research interests and activities, from metal-nonmetal transition specifically in liquids through mesoscopic, where the size-dependent quantisation through several chemical reactions involves current science and technology development. Her specialised carreer covers wide-range of electronics and materials fields such as electronic storage of package materials, electronics materials and processes, materials handler, thin film materials, electronic materials and hardware systems, research and development materials and engineering. As of August 2023, Mrs. Che Lah currently has a WOS and SCOPUS h-index of 9 and citations of 659 and 744, respectively, with more than 15 ISI publications of her own writing which mostly under Tier 1 ranking. She is the main and corresponding authors for most of her ISI publications. She has developed an active research network locally and internationally which potentially contributed to upgrade the name and fame of Universiti Malaysia Pahang.
